Loss of identity within a beautiful view.
This is the collection of Laura Williams photography 'INVISIBLE'. She used mirrors reflections as the main concept and to create the feeling that nature is one of the body part and the idea that human comes from nature and eventually will end at nature. The reflection of the mirror is exactly like the background however I can try this but use the reflection of the mirror, rather than photoshop the original image of the background into the image. Another interesting aspect of Laura's work is how she has blurred some sections and focused on others, for example the first image; the background looks dark and creates a mysterious atmosphere and it contrasts with the pale white body. What I liked about Laura's work is that they are simple yet they bring a lot of thought to the audience which is powerful.
Laura used the mirror to conceal parts of her body like the two top images and this has worked effectively because it seem like nature is part of her identity and works well with the invisible theme. For the other image she created a mind illusion using the mirror. If you look closely, the image is infinite and will keep on going. She has photoshopped the image her holding he mirror into the mirror and kept going which has made the image look mind-boggling and interesting. Also, because there is a lot going on with the image, she has blurred out the background s that the attention and focus is on the mirror and girl and this is a very intelligent thought. The black and white image is another of her work however she didn't use mirrors but the theme of having the same theme of nature and two young girls could be that she is reflecting on time and the black and white effect supports this.
Although the meaning behind th image is not clear and people may have different interpretations, we can tell that the model is simply trying to hide herself as if she doesn't want to exist anymore and by that she is showing the reflection of the scenery. Even though the hue s increased in the image and it makes the image look summery and adds a warm tone but looking at the background and the models daunting face stimulates the audiences curiousty of why things have been positioned in that way. The images represent loss of identity and we can tell by how only see some features are shown and the majority of the inidividual has been hidden
Here are some of the photos taken on a football field and although I found some difficulties because most of the reflections was of the opposite buildings and I wanted the reflection to be of nature (grass). However, the concept of losing their identity through hiding some parts with the mirror and reflecting other parts was still present. I took some close up and some that were really far away. I feel like the ones taken far turned out better because it shows that the person's identity is lost within nature, rather than hardly any nature showing. the space that surrounds the model is what makes the image effective.
